Is |ant| considered to be a real suffix? And for that matter, what about |ont| and |int|? Or are the participles their own closed system?

I wouldn't consider them (int, ant, ont) as suffixes. In my German-Eo dictionary they are constituted as a closed system, just one of the few grammatical rules.

Int has a life outside the formation of participles. For example in Mi povintus, eterna komencanto, en la pasinteco. I have also seen inte on its own as an adverb, though I can't remember the exact phrase now.

Int, ant and ont are slightly disjointed from the rest of the suffixes in that they cover a unique grammatical category. But they are still suffixes for all intents and purposes.

PMEG refers to them as "participaj sufiksoj".

The most obvious example is "past, present, future" (estinteco, estanteco, estonteco).

It seems like some of them could be useful on their own. "anteco" seems like it would be a sufficient term for "present". To me, it seems like it would mean "something that has the quality of currently happening".
