Translation help

There is an old adage attributed to many people that I like.
"Be open minded, but not so open minded as to let your brain fall out."

How would one translate that to E-o? My best so far is:

Estu larĝanima, sed ne tute larĝanima por ke vi perdas la menso.

McLinen has openminded as 'senantaŭjuga' or 'senpartia', both of which I like but will lose the mind/mind pun in the original English.

Malfermu vian menson larĝe por allasi diversajn novajn ideojn; sed ne tiom larĝe ke via cerbo elfalos!

Plays on words like this often don't translate accurately into other languages. It depends on a double meaning of "open" that most languages don't share. What it expresses translates into Esperanto as something like: "Estu senantaŭjuĝa, sed pensu zorgeme, ne estu trompebla."

Suggestions: senantaŭjuĝemu, sed ne tro (or senpartiemu, sed ne tro).
