"rotary" is another word I hear relatively frequently.

I'm not sure what arguments you might present for domoj not having 'dorsoj'. Seems to me anything that vaguely resembles the human erect form can have a dorso, particularly if it has a normal side (or fronto).

Malantaŭdom-o/-a is susceptible to two analyses.

In the case of a subtaso, this is not a suba taso but the 'o' which is sub the taso. So the malantaŭdomo could be the 'o' which is malantaŭ the domo. But it could also be a domo which is malantaŭa - an outhouse, or building at the rear.

But my objection to malantaŭdoma would be more that it is too prosaic, and a mouthful. It is not wrong though.

In the UK we have roundabouts (rondirejoj) on the road system which are substantial structures often populated by some sort of floral bed, or there may be small trees planted on said structure.

We also have trafikcirkloj which are no more than markings on the road to guide the traffic.

They aren't common here, but we do have them. In one small area of Portland, they've got traffic circles on practically every block (generally with a fountain or flowerbed in the middle), but that's an old area of town - in the newer parts, you'd be hard pressed to find one. In the town that I grew up in, however, a couple of years ago they put an enormous traffic circle where there used to be a very confusing (and somewhat dangerous) five-way intersection.

So, you do find them over here. Just not often.
