robbkvasnak:Too bad that the Brits have to turn the innocent vocab question of an Usonano who is just getting his feet wet in Esperanto into this RP thing. Yuck!

robbkvasnak:Oh, and Sudanglo, our "English" is not broken - it's American - and I'm dang proud of it!
Robbkvasnak, maybe you are only joking, so please forgive me if thats's the case, but the term "broken English" refers to incorrect but understandable English spoken by someone who is using English as a second language.

I highly doubt Sudanglo was referring to American English as "broken".

Aaron, putting it very simply, usually what follows a preposition is an o-word, or a phrase that could be replaced by an o-word, or a pronoun.

However some prepositions (the list is traditionally small) can be followed by an i-word. You will quickly pick up this latter usage.
