And the entry for 'future' in the Lernu dictionary now looks like this:
future = estonteco; (grammar) futuro, os-tempo; (coming) venonta, estonta
Some people do use 'futuro' in the sense of 'estonteco' and I doubt it leads to any misunderstanding in context. However, I would stick with 'estonteco'.

I've added 'ekzemple' to the Lernu vortaro:
example: ekzemplo; for example = ekzemple

Guys, multa dankon por klarigi mian demandojn!

Now I know a couple of other online dictionary sites, and that Google translate becomes a little unreliable when Esperanto sentence is written in word order that is not similar to English. I guess I would have to read more Esperanto to get used to it.

Thank you

Ondo:"estonte"
I'm not sure how valid that is, as participles with -e have a specialized meaning...

sometimes i'll be searching for a word, so i'll put the english word into Google Translate... then check the Esperanto word they give me with the PIV and/or ReVo and see if it matches up. often their translation inspires me to think of a word i hadn't thought of before, even if it didn't give me that exact word. that's the best use i've found for it.

You may doubt, of course, but I am sure it is valid.

I shouldn't be telling you this but I am a visitor el la futuro and estonte you will win the lottery. So you shouldn't worry about lending me a tenner.

I am starting a Esperanto music project it will be called Delikata Monstroj I am using many resources to check translation. I offer this title poem/song for advice on accuracy. I am all ears!

DELIKATA MONSTROJ

La mondo estas granda
kelkfoje ni estas malgrandaj
kelkfoje tion povas
porti nin for
Sed ke penso estas
tro sentimentala
ni simple forgesas ĝin
ni forgesas la mondon
kaj nin ludas
kaj ludas kune
Kaj ni ludas kiel infanoj
ni ŝajnigi ni estas monstroj

Delikata monstroĵ
Delikata monstroĵ

Ni havas mallumo interne ni
Sed estas varma mallumo
ĝi estas brila mallumo
"Mia Dio, estas plena de steloĵ"
estas brila mallumo
kaj ĝi faras nin esti

Delikata, delikata,
delikata monstroĵ
Ni amas unu la alian kaj
Ni amas nian mondon
ni estas Delikata Monstroĵ

Esperanto was not designed to be machine-translated easily (even if it actually is easier than other languages). It was designed to be easily learnt by humans, making machine translation unnecessary.

That said, I have had mixed experiences. Just for fun, I've tried running some of my writing through Google Translate. One long forum post I wrote, which included a lot of clever grammatical usage, came out pretty bad (and the translator mistook ŝanĝo for sango). On the other hand, a relatively simple and straightforward sentence came out perfectly.

'For example' = ekzemple; 'in the future', estontece or en la estonteco. (Futuro is a grammatical word, so try to avoid using it outside of linguistic contexts.)

A lot of prepositional phrases and idioms like the ones you mentioned can be translated into Esperanto as adverbs. Google Translate also processed the phrases as adverbs when I put them in.

Google Translate's Esperanto-English translations have two main flaws, in my experience: it can't separate the roots of most compound words in Esperanto, so it knows only the most common ones (it knows sunbrilo but not rulkorbo), and it doesn't recognize sentence patterns that differ too much from the SVO (subject-object-verb) structure. These features of Esperanto are pretty important for advanced use of the language.

So I advise you to exercise some caution and prudence when using Google Translate for Esperanto.
