Bruso:The English gives e as in "make" and o as in "not".
Yeah. The problem is, which English?

Certainly not the one I speak. For a west coast American, those examples are very incorrect.
This has always been a problem for me with respect to written descriptions of languages, and constructed languages in particular. "Pronounce 'this' as in 'that'" is not particularly helpful if the writer describing the language and the reader speak significantly different dialects.

For instance, my dialect of American English is quite different in sound from, say, BBC English. The vowels tend to be significantly different, and my dialect is strongly rhotic. If a British (or other) author writes to describe vowels of a language by examples, I still do not know how to pronounce the language (again, vowels especially). (That is why after all these years I am still not sure how to pronounce the vowels of Volapük.)

I have not checked to see whether lernu! has any online sound clips demonstrating proper Esperanto pronunciation. If not, sound specimens would be very, very useful, especially for isolated individuals who may not have ready access, while they are still learning, to experienced and proficient speakers.
