Just a quick translation question. Is "trotaksata" a valid translation for "overrated", or is there another way to say it?

Thanks!

Perhaps supertaksata, as the opposite (under-rated) is subtaksata.

estas grava eraro subtaksi la forton de iu kontraŭulo

Although NPIV registers trotaksi as Tro alte taksi it more logically means troe taksi which is not quite the same as tro alte taksi. The result of a taksado can be good or bad.

That argument might not apply to troestimi since estimi is always positve.

Agreed. In ESPDIC I have trotaski as both "to overestimate" and "to overrate", which are not quite the same thing. I would be more inclined to consider "supertaski" as "overestimate" and "trotaski" as "overrate", since the later is more of a value judgement : I can overestimate the number of people at an overrated concert, but I can't overrate the number of people at an overestimated concert. ridulo.gif

Ordinarily I wouldn't get all spellcheck-naziish on you, but I hope you notice that you spelled "taksi" wrong throughout that paragraph. I'm only putting that out there because you're talking about editing a dictionary. I'm just sayin'. ridulo.gif

Not at all -- I appreciate the pointer. I have them both as "taksi" in ESPDIC, so the transposition was either (a) some kind ofnauto-correct issue or (b) (more likely) careless on my part.

I find typos in ESPDIC on a semi-regular basis, so I very much appreciate any and all corrections, etc. that anyone is able to contribute.

Thanks again,
Paul
