The nearest I've figured out is informeto (a tiny piece of information) or konsileto (a little bit of advice). It might even be called a trick. Maybe lertaĵo? (a small bit of cleverness)?

An -eto is just a small thing. An -ero is explicitly a piece of a larger thing. So, to me, unless you are talking about (and kind of underscoring) a tiny part of some large corpus of knowledge, a tip is definitely more of an -eto.

eojeff:After reading your post I thought maybe informero might work. But, after further consideration I don't that would work. There are smaller units of useful information than a tip. Though, I might suggest helpeto--a small bit of help. What do you think?I think helpeto might be the best choice. Tips basically help one do a task. Konsileto might do for hint in this instance. Thus 'Hints and Tips' could be called 'Etaj Helpoj kaj Konsiloj'. That rolls off my tongue better than 'Helpetoj kaj Konsiletoj'.
