How would you say "spay" or "neuter" (for dogs)?

I found "eksvirkato" for a neutered cat. So, with that as a template, maybe eksvirhundo/ekshundino?

Can't find the operation though - sentestikigi/senovariigi maybe?

[eks + name of male animal] is common according to PIV:

La kastritajn bestojn oni nomas per la pref. eksvir (eksvirkato ktp), krom se ekzistas aparta nomo por la virbesto (eksstalono, ekstaŭro ks).

It follows that [eks + name of animal + ino] should be understood by readers already familiar with eks- being used to convey the idea of castration.

I would understand these senprobleme. Pliaj proponoj:
kastr/i
sen/nask/pov/ig/i (< naskpovo = fertility)
steril/ig/i

Wells has "kastri" for spay, I assume the same would be used for neuter.

I would suggest neuterigi, "to make neuter".

The same word could be used for both castrating males and spaying females, since the effect is the same although the actual operation varies.

I don't know about that. neuter- isn't in the PIV, ReVo or Lernu! dictionary. There is the root neŭtr- but it's only referenced as meaning neuter in genus, not in sexus.
