With all that in mind, how does one reply to "dankon?" What phrase/word is equivalent to the English "you're welcome?"

Foreigner:How do I respond to "Dankon?" In English, when someone says either "Thanks" or "Thank you," one respons with "You're welcome." When I think of the literal meaning of that phrase, "welcome" sticks out to me, and I interpret that as "you have my permission to be in my presence." If the phrase were extended, one might say, "You are welcome to ask me questions," which I would interpret to mean, "You have my permission to ask me questions."'Nedankinde' is a pretty standard reply to 'dankon'.
