jchthys:At least, the result is so strange, that the conclusion is: Don't save the English word order. Get used to the fact that Esperanto puts the owner after the owned thing, with "de" in between, while English puts it before the owned thing, with 's between them.sergejm:PS: if you want save English word order of Alkanadi's sentence, you can say:Everything else you've written makes sense, but I don't think the above sentence is grammatical.

Mi vidas de mia najbaro propran katon
They can understand it so:
I see my own cat from my neighbor's house.
Mi vidas de mia najbaro mian propran katon aux lian propan katon
The second personnel adjective really helps narrow down whose "own" cat.

Kyu:I wanted only expain why the word order cannot be changed. The adding of "mian" or "lian" makes the situation more clear, but doesn't show necesity of the word order "la (propra) kato de mia najbaro". "Propra" cannot help it, as I thought first time.
Would make more sense to me if one said
Mi vidas de mia najbaro mian propran katon aux lian propan katon
The second personnel adjective really helps narrow down whose "own" cat.
