I've often wondered myself if it is that these groups of people are attracted to Esperanto, or if the type of person who is interested in Esperanto is just open-minded and free thinking enough to have made several unconventional decisions in life.

You have to be somewhat left-wing politically to learn a language that unites the world. You have to be somewhat open minded to do something that is not in the mainstream. Therefore, I think Esperanto does attract certain types of people who are free thinking.

Alkanadi:It seems as though many religious people/groups have adopted Esperanto as means to achieve their greater goal of loving others. Also, I have heard that a lot of Vegetarians, Vegans, Communists, ect. are attracted to the Esperanto language. So I thought I would do this poll to get a rough idea.
