Is anyone able to explain/elucidate the difference between these two verbs? I came across them from different sources, and neither source so far has given me an understanding of what travel is described by which verb. I'm fairly used to having more than one verb of motion (russophone
) but I can't seem to figure out or find what the differentiation is between these two.

- "Mi veturis tien per buso"
(I travelled there by bus)
Vojaĝi is "(intransitive) to travel"
- "Mi ĉiam volus vojaĝi al Ĉinio."
(I have always wanted to travel to China.)

In other words, you wouldn't say "Mi amas veturi", but rather "Mi amas vojaĝi". However, you could say "Mi amas veturi mian biciklon". And you wouldn't say "Mi vojaĝos hejmon per aviadilo", but rather "Mi veturos hejmon per aviadilo".

However, you could say "Mi amas veturi mian biciklon"With certain modes of transport there are specific verbs.
Oni rajdas sur ĉevalo, oni rajdas biciklon, or biciklas. Or if you are a witch vi rajdas sur balailo. In any case you can't veturi biciklon - veturi doesn't take an object.
The object of veturigi is usually the object or person that is being transported. Ĉu vi povas veturigi min al la stacidomo - Can you give me a lift/drive me to the station.
You could say Ni veturigis la biciklojn per ŝipo al la insulo. But that wouldn't mean that you rode the bicycles on a ship.

You can sometimes "cheat" an intransitive verb by making the would-be direct object an adverb.
Can't one use rajdi intransitively also?

LLZ:Kiu kuraĝas rajdi sur leono?Intransitive in this case.
