So we have a seductive title for the book. The first step is to start collecting English words or phrases that have punch or leverage.

Examples:

I find it quite pathetic that ...
I admit that this point of view is gaining traction in certain quarters.
This half-baked proposal ..
Are you saying that you condone ...

But I think you already have the idea.

sudanglo:A Dictionary of Emotive and Polemical words in Esperanto - all the vocabulary you need to win an argument, and put your opponent in his place
Interestingly enough, this book already exists in German. Written 1831 by Schopenhauer.

Ineed, I do. Do you know the book English Phrases and Expressions in Esperanto written by Felix Woolf, copyrighted and published in 1969 by Esperanto Press in Cardiff, Ontario, Canada? Perhaps we could explore the possibility of updating that since it is a wonderful repository of just such kinds of phrases from a generation or so ago and thus a bit outdated.

Quid tibi videtur?

And an interesting read it is, too! Thanks for pointing that out.

sudanglo:I was listening to the radio the other day and heard someone say 'I am not putting this forward as a complaint which needs redress' and thought, yes, this is the level at which it would be interesting to speak Esperanto.
Do the sentence "I am not putting this forward as a complaint which needs redress" means in Esperanto the follow: ?
«Mi ne diras tion kiel reklamo kiu bezonus kompenson»

sudanglo (Arată profil) 30 martie 2015, 11:54:37

Reklamo is advertising - reklamacio is something else.

The difference between compensation and redress is that with compensation it can be that nobody is at fault, redress is for situations in which a wrong should be righted.

Redress carries a value implication which I think is not always there for compensation. It implies a transgression.

Thanks for the explanation. So, do its t would be:
/Dankon pro la klarigo. Do, cxu la traduko estus bone tiel?

"I am not putting this forward as a complaint which needs redress"
=
«Tion mi ne diris kiel se mi estus reklamacianta ion petante reĝustigon pro io ŝuldata»

Edit: just a lapsus linguae: "mi estus *reklamante ion" -> "mi estus reklamacianta ion" A key lapsus when I misused -e anstaŭ -a. And brain lapsus when I again typed "reklam'i" instead "reklamaci'i", yes, ouch, I was not enough awake when was typing that.

Baliurel:«Tion mi ne diris kiel se mi estus reklamante ion petante reĝustigon pro io ŝuldata»
«Tion mi ne diris kvazaŭ mi estus reklamacianta ion petante reĝustigon pro io ŝuldata»
«Tion mi ne diris kvazaŭ mi reklamacius ion petante reĝustigon pro io ŝuldata»

Ŝuldo is a good example of a term which carries emotional charge, in contrast with reĝustigo which is relatively bland and largely devoid of moral reference.

Oh, God. I didn't notice what I wrote. Thank you very much for correcting me. I edited.

I don't know what of all was worst, if typing mixing -a with adverbial -e, or if to repeat the wrong use of "reklami" one after the other as if I would not read the previous message. (Sigh... ground, please, gobble down me.)

About the other correction I have a question, I understand why you used kvazaŭ, but, is it a suggestion or a correction?, would it be incorrect the use of kiel there?
