johmue:What's the point of Youtube videos as opposed to audio only podcasts?Sure. Anything is good. I think you have contributed a lot of Esperanto content. I don't discount any of it.

jdawdy:I quite like Evildea's Youtube Esperanto lessons, where he teaches Esperanto while playing games such as World of Warcraft. I have no interest in WoW, but I must admit it is *far* more visually engaging than watching someone standing in front of a white board lecturing.I agree. I think this is a good way to teach. Maybe, it would be good to do this with The Sims in order to get more everyday sentences.

johmue:What's the point of Youtube videos as opposed to audio only podcasts?I suppose the main point is that Youtube has a major user base. Millions of people use the site every day, whereas podcasts can be harder to find. So while the content of a podcast and a Youtube video would be pretty similar, I imagine more people would see a Youtbuve video than a podcast (I'm guessing here).
Also you can put subtitles on a Youtube video. I like listening to Kern Punkto, but sometimes you talk too fast for me to keep up. (Which is more my fault than yours).

johmue:Something that comes to mind for me is that YouTube has a huge userbase and automatically directs people to "related videos" and such, which would increase exposure for your program. I like podcasts but I think more people use YouTube than comb the web for podcasts.spreecamper:I am not talking about teaching. Just about talking. in kern.punkto we don't teach Esperanto or anything. We just talk about various topics in Esperanto. What additional benefit the video would have? It would be just more work, more data volume, more difficult to keep up quality. I just don't see the point.johmue:What's the point of Youtube videos as opposed to audio only podcasts?I assume some lecturer doing audio recordings acts different than somebody who is recorded in sight. Furthermore, assumed lecturer speaks your native language, somebody can grasp lectures ideas better due its gestic than some audio only lecture.

johmue:Isn't it obvious that there is a difference between people searching deliberately for Esperanto audio (or video) and videos coming up in a playlist on a site with many millions of users? This is comparable to having it on a major broadcaster, because that's the reach of Youtube currently. Stuff loaded up there stays there, which is more than can be said for a lot of other sources. The 'plan' has always to reach out beyond the initiated circle right? That's what Youtube can do.spreecamper:I am not talking about teaching.
