Recently I wanted to convey what I'd say in English as "That's what I said". I'm curious if my translation is right, or if it would be translated another way, i.e. "I said the same", or something else.

Tiun estas kiun mi diris.

I'm not 100% sure that tiun and kiun should be accusative, but it feels like they're both referring/acting as the object, where 'mi' is the subject, and clearly diris is the verb.

On the other hand, the verb estas isn't transitive, so it can't have an object.

What's the correct way to say this in Esperanto?

martinrue:
Tiun estas kiun mi diris.
I would just say "Tiun mi diris" its shorter snappier and conveys the same.
And i believe "Tiu estas kiun mi diris" would be the correct use of -n

I believe, it must be as follows:

Tio estas kion mi diris.

Tiu / kiu are indicative pronouns, like in English 'this/which' :
Tiu libro, kiun mi legis, estas interesa.
While that/what correspond to 'tio/kio'.
And accusative case applies when there is a direct object (kion mi diris - 'what I said' )

Yes that would be tio, not tiu.
It's definitely a good thing to alter the word order to emphasise the important word though (which is of course tio).

Tion mi diris
Ĝuste tion mi diris
