WereVrock:I know why you are doing this: Mi scias kial vi faris ĉi tion.As above, the whole sentence "kial vi faras ĉi tion" is the object of scias. And sentences can't take -n.
As you can see in this example "kial" represents the reason and is necessary here. I'm not saying this is correct usage. I'm still waiting for a consensus to be reached.

1) The direct-object accusative can only be taken by nouns (-o, -oj), adjectives (-a, -aj), and the pronouns (including the correlative pronouns - -o and -u).
2) Other things - including the rest of the correlative table, adverbs, and entire (sub)clauses - do not take an object-accusative, even if they play the role of an object in the larger sentence.
So, for example:
Mi vidis multe da rozoj (not *multen).
Mi vidas ke li estas la plej sagaca.
Kiom da bananoj vi volas?
So I think you're overthinking the issue a bit. My suggestion is to read some quality beginner/intermediate-level literature to get a feel for how the accusative is used.

I'm still waiting for a consensus to be reachedYou can wait another hundred years. It will still be the same.
Hop in your time machine. Go back 100 years. You will not find any difference in the usage under discussion.
