Daftest poll ever.

I have never really liked the name Esperanto. I am getting used to it now but when I first started learning it, I hated the name. It sounds like someone, who was in love with Spanish or Italian, named it Esperanto to make it seem like a poetic language. That was my first impression anyway.

Also, it didn't help the image when Esperanto speakers were so proud to have poetry and music. There is nothing wrong with a poetic language but I was hoping for something more practical and utility based. And, Yes, I know, you can have a poetic language that is practical also.

Now, I like the language a lot, of course, but I am neutral to the name

It is not entirely silly Vestitor, people do have reactions to the sound of certain languages.

Some English people think that a woman speaking French sounds sexy, and I once was told that many French women think an English accent in French is sexy.

I doubt that many English people think that German sounds sexy. And I also doubt that if people were asked to rate a number of languages on this dimension that Esperanto would come high up the list.

You're right. I mistook the question to mean 'the word Esperanto'. My apologies to the OP.

I don't actually like that esperanto has a meaning in esperanto.

Does Li diris esperante mean he said in esperanto or he said hopingly

Presumably because there are lots of vowels at the ends of words and there are also lots of words from the romantic languages.

I don't know exactly how EO sounds to me - I'm so used to it by now, it just sounds "normal". I recall it sounding a little mysterious when I found some youtube videos as a beginner.

I guess some people find multilingualism in general attractive (especially if it's European-sounding languages), but I'm not sure Esperanto in particular sounds "sexy" - whatever that means. People are more likely to just be impressed you know another language (at least in the US and UK, which are largely monoglot).

Not really. I very much like Esperanto, however, Spanish or French specially in music I do prefere.
Probably it could sound sexy. Of course it very much depends on the circumstances.
