Kantoj14:Hey, how would you say that a machine "short-circuited" in esperanto? Would you just use the word for 'died'? Or is there a more specific term?Kurta cirkvito?
Do, "la maŝino malfunkciiĝis pro kurta cirkvito"?

elektra detrua arko <-- elektra detru-arko
elektra salta arko <-- elektra salt-arko
La komputilo havis elektran detru-arkon
I would just use the word rompi because it is simpler. I prefer simplicity.

I think mallonga cirkvito works, as this is a set phrase in many languages. The problem then is, how to use it verbally. My first instinct is something like La mashino suferis de mallonga cirkvito.

Tempodivalse:Russian короткое замыкание, Spanish and Italian cortocircuito, German Elektrischer Kortschluss ...There is the transitive verb kurtcirkviti in PIV, from which the instransitive kurtcirkvitiĝi can be derived.

yyaann:Thanks, I didn't think to check in PIV. I guess I am hesitant to use the root kurt-, though "mallong-" is rather a mouthful here.Tempodivalse:Russian короткое замыкание, Spanish and Italian cortocircuito, German Elektrischer Kortschluss ...There is the transitive verb kurtcirkviti in PIV, from which the instransitive kurtcirkvitiĝi can be derived.
