It is still that way for people who work directly with the technology. Your lead/acid car battery is usually made up of six cells.. if you have a bad cell, your battery won't work well - a mechanic will say you need to top up this cell or that one. If you tell a technician to top up the battery, they will ask which cell.

Both cells and batteries can be charged. The Eo parallels work fine; no matter that the English lay person has to adjust their thought a bit. You can call cells batteries in English, but best not to in Eo.
