Alkanadi:If you really think you can redo the lernu website in 2 days for a cost of $500+X, then why not make a serious offer to ESF, negotiate your terms and do it? It would have to be as bug-free as this website, of course.erinja:if that person really does exist, she should contact us..What if someone said
I must admit that I am sceptical about whether it could be done, but who knows, you may have a new and ingenious method that the world hasn't yet discovered.

Miland:No, I don't think we could be added. All of the foundations on that page are subsections of the UEA, it's just various UEA projects that you can support rather than giving your money for general use. I don't see any non-UEA projects listed there.erinja:The main donation page has information on UEA account donations..Could you get ESF or lernu added to UEA's donations page? It's not obvious how to make donations using an UEA account number.
If you have funds currently in your UEA account, you can e-mail financoj@co.uea.org and ask for them to transfer funds from your account (give your account code) to lern-a, in the amount that you specify. If you do not have funds in your UEA account then presumably you'd have to use one of the forms of payment to the UEA in order to get funds into your account, either through a peranto or a bank transfer or a credit card payment (to which a percentage is added for credit card fees.) It's only an easy process if you already have funds in your UEA account. The UEA page is unfortunately kind of difficult to use. I believe this is one of the things they are hoping to correct in their redesign of the entire site. I speak fluent Esperanto and I find it confusing to navigate, I can't even imagine it if your Esperanto is poor or nonexistent. Even their online store is confusing to purchase from.

Miland:To be equivalent, it would also have to be in 30+ languages, with the ability for anyone to help translate it into more languages without special software, with a variety of courses and exercises usable in all of these languages. 30+ languages worth of exercises, vocabulary lists, explanatory texts, etc.Alkanadi:If you really think you can redo the lernu website in 2 days for a cost of $500+X, then why not make a serious offer to ESF, negotiate your terms and do it? Most commercial software packages just aren't geared towards being available in a lot of languages, and allowing outside people to translate their content into a lot of languages with a single interface; even if you imported a forum program, a language exercises program, a vocabulary test program, etc, I can't believe you could easily translate them all to a new language without custom-programming a single interface. Otherwise translators would somehow have to interact with them each individually to put their menus and content into a new language.
If you create a site in a day or two, you get what you pay for. Cookie-cutter content, decreased functionality. And I am not sure how you could also come up with all of lernu's course content in a day, along with the programming, but maybe the super genius Esperanto teacher could do it.
If someone thinks they can do it, they should definitely submit a detailed proposal to ESF. I would love to visit this 30+ language site that can be created in two days.

Roch:...like "cliking on a word in an esperanto forum which will show you a dictionary defenition in the language of your choice"That is part I would struggle with. The software can be updated and custom software built onto of the prefabricated model. The point is that I can make something comparable, and maybe even better, in a day or two.

I don't even speak Esperanto well, which means I won't be able to create the course content.

He says that he made most of his money from selling a product, providing a service, and using affiliate linking. He listed 8 things.
He says that selling a product gives him 100 times the revenue of Google adsense. He says that adsense is only the icing on the cake.
Just something to think about for the new website. I hope it is successful.

I look forward to seeing your wildly successful Esperanto site that you will program in a day or two, and make masses of money on. I am sure you can find some free content online to use for your courses, there are plenty of old courses that are out of copyright, so surely you can make a site way better than lernu, at least for English-language learners. People like the Kellerman text. I wish you the best of luck, and I look forward to seeing your site (in a week or so, probably?).
