Can anyone explain the differences of these three words for "reality"? Thanks so much.

Realo is reality in its wholeness and also a Spanish coin.
Realeco is the quality of something real.
Realaĵo is one concrete real thing.

Nia realo estas malĝoja.
Mi dubas la realecon de drakoj.
Ĉiu ŝtono estas realaĵo.

Realo = (a) reality; something real/actual. (Though I imagine the word reala being used for 'real' ).

Realeco = The quality of being real: realness.

Realaĵo = The state of being real shown in concrete form. So 'reality', something proving to be real.

Now someone cleverer can come and expand on this (or contradict me entirely!).

From vortaro.net:
  • realo. Tio, kio efektive ekzistas. (All) That which effectively exists.
  • realaĵo. Io efektive ekzistanta. Something effectively existing; a thing that exists (as opposed to unicorns, Santa Claus, etc.)
  • realeco. Eco de tio, kio estas reala. The quality of that which is real; realness.
-eco denotes the quality of something.

-aĵo denotes something possessing that quality (or made from a substance; also meat of an animal).

That is tough one. I think the differences are subtle. I checked the tekstaro and they all seem to be somewhat interchangeable. I can't tell the difference anyway.

Realo = real or reality

Realeco = realness

Realajxo = a real thing

Take a look at this.

Thank you all. Great help. Seems like the topic of a worthwhile philosophical article.
