Alkanadi:
I know you are but what am I. You stupid, fart head!

I am just teasing. Yah, I agree with you: Forums can be very annoying and useless. Before you go, give the Esperanto forum a try.
Thank you! I may give it another go some day.

Cheers!

FYI to anyone who is unaware, personal attacks are not permitted in the forum, and anyone who persistently engages in personal attacks and insults risks losing their account.

I'm an administrator on this forum, and I have found that appropriate conduct in the forum is totally unrelated to calendar age, and I'm not pleased to see users being attacked over their age. Not cool, everyone.

It's true that Vestitor could have simply ignored the initial post if he wasn't interested, but it's also true that there was no need to go into a tirade of multiple lengthy messages in response to Vestitor's post - it was disproportionate and inappropriate.

Jesse (Profil megtekintése) 2016. május 23. 12:30:17

Well, I disagree. The only one who reacted disproportionally and made personal remarks was Kljunar.

As to the need for posting multiple lengthy messages: if that in itself is inappropriate, then what on earth is this forum for? I posted, Vestitor reacted, I reacted, Vestitor reacted again and I reacted again. Those were the only lengthy messages. Why is that disproportionate and inappropriate?

And tirade? Please, that's called a discussion. Or an attempt at one anyway. Fierce? Yes, but nowhere do I make it personal or do I make a personal attack.

Point your arrows at the right target please Mrs. Administrator!

I'm out of here! I've been a member here for more than 10 years and frankly I don't mind if you decide to delete my account. I won't post here ever again.

How did it get to this? Even if I didn't want to exchange letters immediately, there will have been other people who do. I don't think it's unjustifiable to be a little wary of giving out your address online, just because people have Esperanto in common. I posted to give the other side of what can happen.

I've also hosted 'couch surfers' (a Mexican guy and a girl from Taiwan) in the past, but not since I moved house.

Did you ban his account? His account doesn't appear to be active anymore?

erinja (Profil megtekintése) 2016. május 23. 17:33:54

Nope, he deleted his own account. You have to do something pretty bad to get banned immediately and his messages were not even close to that line.

Kljunar (Profil megtekintése) 2016. május 24. 1:15:32

Man. I guess it's pretty sad that he had to resort to insulting my age.
I was taught to never give more than my name and age online, so it's reasonable that someone didn't want to give their address.
Jesse, I think, just took things a bit too far.

But what do I know, I'm only 15.

Kljunar (Profil megtekintése) 2016. május 24. 1:25:18

Sorry for double post.

I just realized how ill tempered my last post sounded. I'm sorry if it came across that way.
