If you meant that the subject would be betterly treated in esperanto... I doubt so, Mr. Dunner is known only in english on wiki...

Grown:Why is this conversation in English?
I presume this is some kind of criticism of the OP. If not, I'm curious as to why you ask. A quick look at the OP's profile indicates a beginner. Probably doesn't have the confidence to start and then track a thread in Eo. If Esperantists want this site, and Eo in general, to grow, you need to cut us komencantoj, even eternaj komencantoj, some slack.

Well then you are curious as to why I ask. I ask because this thread is a microcosm of language in the world, and to say whatever your answer was, that that's why Esperanto is not more popular. The slack you called for was already cut. I am not tearing the OP a new one here, nor am I attempting to provoke anyone. This is not about the OP. Frano is not beginner to Esperanto, and his profile does not indicate that he is a beginner. I've read many of his posts, which indicate that he likes chess and math. He rarely, if ever makes typos in his posts.

No, we've discussed much based on material not in Esperanto. For example, I translated a few paragraphs from Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and asked Konsultejo about some of the more obscure phrases, such as "the nightmare, with her whole ninefold".

I can't contest it, but I guess peoples usually remind of

As far as the forums go, my main concerns when formulating the rules were:
- to keep discussions on-topic and in the appropriate language for the thread
- to maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere in these forums
- to discourage trolls without making things draconian for honest users
- to do all of this with a relatively concise set of rules, which would be flexible enough to handle a wide variety of situations, fully within the bounds of the rules (because there are always some users who slice and dice and parse the rules, and act within the letter of the rules, though not the spirit).

Why is this even being discussed? The designated language of the thread from the start was English so there is no problem. Lernu is a multilingual site and threads in languages other than Esperanto are permitted.

Thank you, Roch.
Dankon!

I agree with you. The topic of this discussion is quite different.
Mi konsentas kun vi. La temo de tiu diskuto estas tute alia.

Esperanto is:
- ten times easier;
-hundred times fairer;
-minus thousand hours for basic learning if you compare it to English (150 hours against 1150 hours);
- minus10000 hours for good level : Esperanto 1000 h against 11000 in English.

The world population, except English natives, is today about 7 billions (miliards)
If you make hypothesis that 20% of people must have good level for international language and 80% basic level, and if you estimate 5 $/hour learning;
-the overcost of English/Esperanto is 5,6 billions (milliards) people X 1000 h X 5$ = 28 000 billions $ for people with basic level, and 1,4 billion people X 10000h X 5 $ = 70000 billions $.
The total overcost of English/ Esperanto is 98000 billions $, more than one year of production in the world.
The Esperanto solution as common language next to the big languages is economically rational for humanity. I don't speak about other advantages: peace, ecology, potential and financial means for all to learn international language, more discussions between people of different languages, protection of 6000 languages in the world et cetera.

Time is money. Learn Esperanto.

What Pini Dunner is saying has been said much better before, Esperanto being described as “a slightly stilted monument to late-Victorian scientific rationalism”. This description is brilliant wording, but whether it is actually applicable to Esperanto is another question. If you want to read the whole article, you can do so here.
