I tend to type "Mi amas vin ankaw." and "Ču vi parolas Esperanton?" and "Mi šatas picon.". This is because I don't have a program for those typographically unacceptable/unaccepted diacritics ĉĝĥĵŝŭ. On my keyboard, I have AltGr which I can use with the dead keys and make letters like âîôă etc., but ^c ^g ^h ^j ^s ^u simply don't work and I don't want to slow myself down every time. I also don't want to use an X system because it would screw up my password input that contains c and x connected. If there was a program to fix my dead keys, I'd use it, but only if it was free.

Could typing like how I quoted be acceptable on places where the x-system isn't implemented how it is implemented on this site?

Do you mean everywhere on the internet or just here? Also whichever operating system you use (Windows, Apple or Linux) there is no obstacle to having those letters with diacritics on your keyboard. I can't speak about your specific keyboard, but on an English keyboard they replace:

Ŝ - Q
Ĝ - W
Ĵ - [
Ĥ - ]
Ŭ - Y
Ĉ - X

Surely all keyboards have 6 keys that can be replaced in this way?

The hachek doesn't work with the others letters... malgajo.gif

But with the u, it does... ;ǔ rido.gif

Oh, you probably use the ž for ĵ and ĝ and ch for ĥ

echošandžo čiužawde

Google translate identifies it as Lithuanian...

So maybe you would like their ū, u with macron. demando.gif

echo šandžo, čiu žaūde

... oh, now it's english that is detected.

Only when the circumstances do not allow to use the correct characters, and when due to special needs Fundamental substitution script (ch, gh, hh, jh, sh, u) is not practical, you can replace the accented letters by other characters or letter combinations. Such substitution, when it is a mere technical resource, not aiming at reform of the spelling of Esperanto, and when he would not cause confusion, it does not look like an anti-Fundamental.

If you are masochist, defying Murphy's law by using accented letters for passwords is the best thing you can do. If you are abroad and have to use your account on an unfamiliar computer, you will be stuck: impossible to use it or to change it. Evitinde!
