Esence estas, kiujn lingvojn la infanoj de mikslingva paro komprenas kaj parolas. Ĉu la infanoj uzas nur la minoritatan lingvon, ambaŭ lingvojn aŭ nur la majoritatan lingvon? Se la infanoj ne uzas la minoritatan lingvon neniom, la lingvo mortiĝas. Por la minoritata lingvo postvivi oni devas kuraĝigi ties uzo.
La plej grava afero estas, ke oni povas uzi la lingvon ĉie, en ĉiuj fakoj – edukado, kulturo, ekonomio, scienco ktp. – por ke la lingvo ne muzeiĝas, uzas nur ekz-e kun folkloraj dancoj.
