What would be a natural way of translating the english phrase:

"then again..."
"on second thought..."
"actually..."
"in hindshight..."
etc?

First you have to decipher the meaning of those idioms, and then translate the meaning.

"then again..." means, that there is one point-of-view and then you come up with a second. Thus (unuflanke...) aliflanke.

"on second thought..." means, that you already gave a thought previously, but for some reason do it again. Thus kiam mi denove pensas or perhaps denove pensite, but I personally would stay away from such clumsy, double participle expressions at least in speech.

"actually..." means, that there is a fact, that has not been presented earlier. Thus fakte.

"in hindshight..." means, that some time has lapsed and now you have another view on the matter. Thus en perspektivo or (ĉi tiel) poste.

In general the preferred translations will be dependent on the whole sentence, or the situation in which the phrases are used.

Then again is not very contrastive, so I think that alifllanke might be a bit strong. For something weaker, perhaps sed tamen or sed eble.

On second thoughts -repensinte/rekonsiderante,or je repenso/je rekonsidero.

Actually - fakte, efektive, reale, en vero.

In hindsight - retrospektive, de nuna vidpunkto, en perspektivo
