Mia nomo estas Christian, kaj mi estas de la lando Auxstralio. Mi estas nova esperantisto, sed mi avas la lingvon internacian (unu de multaj nomoj por 'Esperanto').
La fakto ke tio cxi lingvo estas libera de landimoj kaj limigoj estas tre bona. Mi sxatas tio cxi aferoj ke estas libera, pricipe Esperanto, Linuksa kaj aliaj liberaj softvaroj.

The fact that this language is free of borders and limitations is very good. I like these things that are free, especially Esperanto, Linux and other free software.

I will put down the English version as well so you can check it out...My suggested corrections are in square brackets []. For a 'new Esperantist', I think you have done very well! You seem to be making very good progress. Keep it up.

In my opinion here the word "free" has got both its meanings quite valid, that can be explained only with two words in Esperanto.
Also take note that "Tiu",which somehow happened to be introduced for usage instead of "tio" in front of nouns, is obviously marked as definite ( tio + la = tiu ),so there is no use to add "ĉi".
Miland (Prikaz profila) 7. rujna 2008. 13:30:14
Taciturn:Yes, I missed the use of tio which should have been tiuj. As you say, we could have just tiuj or even omit it altogether. I've edited my message accordingly.
ceigered (Prikaz profila) 7. rujna 2008. 23:59:07
May I ask, how do you use 'kiuj', does that double as 'that' in the form of a conjunction, and if so what is 'ke' used for?
And is it 'tiuj cxi' or just 'tiuj'?
Dankon
@ Frankouche: Ha, jes, estus tre malfacila lerni lingvojn

ceigered:.. how do you use 'kiuj', does that double as 'that' in the form of a conjunction, and if so what is 'ke' used for?Kiuj means 'who' or 'which' (plural), when the things or people are definitely known. So you could have 'the people who stay in the city' = 'the people that stay in the city' = la homoj kiuj loĝas en la urbo.
And is it 'tiuj ĉi' or just 'tiuj'?
Ke is a conjunction, meaning that when used in expressions like 'It is true that we are late' = Estas vere, ke ni estas malfruaj.
But note that ke is never used to stand for a person, as 'that' can be, in English.
You will find a good discussion on pages 150-151 of Teach yourself Esperanto.

ceigered:and if so what is 'ke' used for?"ke" introduces a whole sentence that works as a subject or an object.
Mi kredas vin.
I believe you.
The object is 'vin'.
Mi kredas ke vi ne ŝtelis.
I believe that you didn't steal.
The object is 'you didn't steal'. It is a whole sentence and therefore it must be introduced with 'ke'. English uses 'that' for that function.
Basing on my (supposedly imperfect) knowledge of English, I think I can say, that whenever you can substitute 'that' with 'which' or 'who', you can be sure that it's not "ke". But perhaps native speakers can correct me on this.
And is it 'tiuj cxi' or just 'tiuj'?"tiuj ĉi" = these, these ones
"tiuj" = those, those ones.

"tiuj" = those, those ones.
So I need to use 'kiuj' whenever I can could also use 'which', e.g. 'The things WHICH/THAT are free', and I use 'ke' like I would use whenever 'which' won't work, such as 'I know which you are smart' (this just sounds clumsy, jes? )
