Rogir:No need to use a subject before bonas in a context like that.
I'll omit it then just for now lango.gif

Sinanthiel: I'm kind of obsessed about learning Esperanto and I've been spending hours a day researching stuff and watching videos in Esperanto, and doing lessons, etc.
I admire your enthusiasm, but be careful about trying to learn too much in too short a time. It can make progress a lot more difficult. There are some excellent learning tools on this site. Make sure you have a good understanding of each lesson and a good knowledge of the vocabularly before moving on. Even then, go back and review. And try to post in Esperanto as soon as possible; even though it would be in basic, beginner's Esperanto. Don't be embarassed about making errors. Most of the people who use this site are very helpful and happy to provide guidance- I certainly still need a lot of it!

Yeah, 69UM24OSU12 has a really good point actually. If you try and cram in too much you'll end up like me and sound really odd - you'll be understandable but you might make subtle mistakes without realising it.

I suggest posting a passage or something that you've written in Esperanto on the English forum and then asking for advice or help. Or try writing random phrases in Esperanto ASAP on the forums so regulars can hunt down your mistake ha ha.

Jee, 69UM24OSU12 havas tre bonan punkton. Se vi atemptas tro multan, vi estigos simila mi kaj sonas tre malnorme - vi estos kompreneble sed vi eble faros malgrandajn erarojn sen scio.

The above is not a good show of esperanto, but it was the quickest I could do without really thinking. And now I'm expecting about a 1000 people to correct me lango.gif

But your enthusiasm is really really good ridego.gif Keep it up!

EDIT: It should be 'provi' not 'atempti'.

Sounds good... I've been doing one to two lessons per day, and I've been listening to audio books in Esperanto, or I will watch Mazi in Esperanto... Is that overkill?

That sounds good, as long as you don't tire/bore yourself out. Mazi is a crazy cartoon lango.gif but it definitely helps reinforce concepts. If you're going to make fast progress though, make sure you have some form of revision every now and then just incase of the chance you forget something earlier on.

I haven't listened to much audio books before, but they should help with pronunciation, even if you don't understand what's being said it will help familiarise your ears with the spoken language.

Out of curiousity though, what course in particular are you doing? If you're doing Ana Pana or something like that, make sure you definately listen to something like Polskie Radio - Esperanto (a podcast on iTunes), They speak fast and with a noticeable polish accent (actually you might hear similarities with the queen in Mazi, don't know if it's polish though) but it helps with variation - you don't want to sound like 'canned soup' rido.gif (that's what I think most audio language courses sound like ha ha).

Another podcast with Esperanto music with a radio programme combined is 'Tuj' by the Australian Esperanto Association. The guy speaks slower than Polskie Radio, but sounds more like a TV news presenter to me lango.gif

I'm doing more than one course... Both of them are by email.

I haven't even tried the lernu courses yet... I don't want to overwhelm myself.

I will look into those...

There is a book called "Gerda Malaperis!" read by some Esperantists in Brazil... I have the links if you'd like to listen to it. There are 25 chapters, but I've only listened to the first three chapters.

Mmm I'd like to hear that myself actually. I'll try finding it (if it's easily available), coz I've heard it slowly progresses in difficulty and eases into vocabulary.

Yup, if you can't find it, let me know... I'll send you the link.

"atempt/i" does not exist. "provi" is what you were looking for. (edit: ok, you actually mentioned that. Good!)

"se vi provas tro multan" roughly means "if you try a too much [what?]". A correct version is "Se vi provas tro multe", if you try too much; but you could say "Se vi troigas", if you exaggerate.

"vi estigos", you will make be... hm. A better solution is "vi fariĝos simila kiel mi", you will become similar to me; or more simply, "vi fariĝos kiel mi", you will become like me.

"kaj sonas tre malnorme", you need to repeat the subject, and also I guess you meant this to be in the future tense too: "kaj vi sonos tre malnorme". ("you will end up [...] and you will sound [...]")

"vi estos kompreneble" means "you will understandably be". To express "you will be understandable" you should use an adjective: "vi estos komprenebla".

"vi [...] faros [...] erarojn sen scio" means "you will make mistakes without knowledge". Which could mean that if you don't know something you are bound to err okulumo.gif. Perhaps you meant to say "vi faros erarojn sen rimarki tion", you will make mistakes without noticing that.

Ha ha ha, I knew that was all bad esperanto ridego.gif

Thanks mnlg, the dictionary was down at the time (let alone the whole site) so I was going 'crud, what does X mean??!', so I made some random guesses. So basically 'multa' should be 'multe' because I'm describing the action as excessive... Interesting.. I must say, Esperanto is peculiar language at times, but I guess that's part of the joy lango.gif.
