Abii:Just wondering, what are some Esperanto onomatopoeias? Are they the same as in English (but I dare not assume)? The Esperanto words for "onomatopoeia" are "onomatopeo" and the better (in my opinion) "sonimitoj" ['sound imitation']. Esperanto onomatopoeias are different from those in English, for these are derived from Esperanto roots.
Examples:
Laughter (Haha, hehe)
Animal Noises (barking, meowing, hissing)
Action noises (wham, splat, blam)
Sorry if there's a topic/section on lernu! already, if so then please direct me to that.
,Thanks
Some examples (from PMEG):
"Paf!" [gunshot, from "pafi"]
"Glut! glut!" [swallowing, from "gluti"]
Some links:
From "PMEG": http://bertilow.com/pmeg/gramatiko/ekkrioj_sonim...
From "Vikipedio": http://eo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onomatopeo
That's all I can find.

Of course there's the bird kukulo (cuckoo), and some sound imitations:
boom - pum
ouch - aj
sshh - ŝŝŝŝ
zzz - zzz
And there's a whole list of animal sounds on this page of the Esperantista Brusela Grupo's Aktuala of september.

Some sounds are really funny and easy to imagine.
