Miland:In Scots, though is spelt 'tho' sometimes. Quite funnily, most spelling reforms have been 'revived' (without knowing it) thru the use of 'TXT' language or colloquial english.andogigi:(The New York Times) I used to cringe everytime I gazed on the front page and saw the word "thru"..I remember seeing "thru" and "donuts" in comics (Marvel and DC respectively).
Perhaps Bill Gates will take up Carnegie's baton. Simplifying English spelling could save a lot of time learning to read and write.
thru is used über-colloquially, and donuts is how many people spell them simply because it sounds that way. Actually, I always spell it 'donut', maybe it's because rural Australia didn't have donut kings? Come to think of it, donuts aren't very Australian when compared to a Lamington or Frog Cake.

I think I too will continue discussion on andogigi's thread, considering this has left the topic long ago ha ha.
