Somehow, the way how Esperanto sounds in this course seems a little unexpected to me: more nasal than I had expected and having a rather dark "r" /EDIT: a typo, should have been "l" of course/ (like in Russian words "лом" or "кол" f.e). So, is this so because of:

Esperanto always should sound like in this course,
it actually is not very important as there is a great variation how Esperanto may sound
or
it's just due to this specific course?[/list]Harri.

I'm not a user of Jen nia IJK but I always thought myself that the L should always be clear, so maybe the dark L and/or nasal sounds are just the speakers pronunciation. Otherwise I've been trying to get rid of my South Australian dark L for no reason at all

The Jen Nia IJK course is read by Arono and Karlina. They are Canadians (native English speakers). This can sometimes influence their pronunciations of some words. English-speakers in general tend to naturally use a dark L in some circumstances.
Lernu uses a variety of speakers, whose accents will sometimes reflect where they came from. This is an important part of learning Esperanto, because learners need to be able to understand speakers from all over, who will speak in many different accents.
The lernu team is looking into creating a new advanced-level course that will feature different texts spoken by people from different countries, to act as a sort of listening training.
