There may be torrent sites (if you're willing to use them) or some video sites out there, I personally haven't seen it but I've heard the Esperanto is very poor quality in it.

Yes, but.....we should mention that Incubus, like any movie, is still subject to copyright laws and even though we talk about it as an Esperanto benchmark (and novelty), we should not advocate the spreading of illegal content here.

I see that it's still available on DVD:

You can probably get a used copy online (ebay, maybe?) for cheaper than the cost of renting it at a video store. It isn't a very good movie; I can easily imagine that people would watch it once then sell their copy.

Ah yes, that completely slipped my mind - I seem to keep this fantasy that almost everything Esperanto has a Creative Commons license (not the case of course), thanks Ironchef for bringing me back into reality lango.gif.

Wouldn't some video stores out there have it too (e.g. in the 'foreign films' or 'something different' section)? Sorry erinja, just saw your post.

We are all used to content being put "out there" that it's almost inconceivable to most people that content in Esperanto could be copyrighted. I was working on a project to put Esperanto subtitles onto Blade Runner but then realized that even though the translation was my own work, it would still be a violation of copyright if I ever released it. It is frustrating that copyright does prevent learning sometimes but there are reasons for it which I well understand.

I just watched it and a bit disagree with the critisism that pronounciation is bad. Depends on scenes. And the esperanto of W. Shatner is not the worst (compared to the old female demon...).

It seems that on the beginning of the shootings, they learned texts translated directly from english, with esperanto writings. Has the actor where not familiar with the prononciation they made mistakes (j become ĵ, e become i, etc). Maybe the translation wasn't that good. And it seems that they didn't pay attention if the actor did it right or not.

But in some scenes the prononciation of Shatner is simply good enough.

.... But what a strange movie...

I started watching it a few months ago... and stopped after maybe 3 minutes, the bad Esperanto hurt me.

Whenever things are translated its typically for meaning and no for a direct translation. However I found a line that is completely different.

After Marco and Kia romp through the river and start making out in the woods, Kia wants to get freaky and Marco wants to go back to the village.

Marco says "Mi volas havi infanon." but the english subtitles say "[I want to do this] the right way." I think thats definitely more than a missed translation. In EO, he's saying "I wanna get married and have kids" and in EN he's saying "I wanna do it in my bed and not in the woods."

Just thought that was kinda funny.
