Michael
erinja:My friend showed me this the other day; it's somewhat like MySpace or Friendster (or whatever), but natively Esperanto. I've found it's a cool way to find Esperanto speakers who live near you (if they have signed up). I've already found one user who lives only a half hour from me, and the site is still brand new, with not that many users. I encourage you to sign up, especially if you are looking to meet new Esperanto-speakers in your area.

T0dd:This may be due to browser issues, actually. When I first signed up, I was using IE and it wouldn't let me choose more than one language. I had to switch over to Firefox to be able to select more than one language! Plus I guess some people might figure that if their profile is written in Esperanto, then of course they speak it and they don't need to list it.

erinja:Ah, that's certainly possible. In any case, it allows one to indicate their level of competence, baza, meza, alta... Nobody should feel intimidated.T0dd:This may be due to browser issues, actually. When I first signed up, I was using IE and it wouldn't let me choose more than one language. I think that a site like this is not only a real asset for Esperantists, but it also sends a good message about Esperanto to the rest of the world. It shows that we're out here and that Esperanto isn't an idea that "died" decades ago, as many think.
