"al la cetera parto de la mondo"
sed la frazo temas pri loko
aŭ
1) "a la cetera parto de la homaro"
2) "al ĉiuj aliaj homoj (el la mondo)"
3) "al la ceteraj homoj (el la mondo)"
Kaj la ĝusta verbo estas MENSOGI. Aliaj rilataj verboj estas Trompi aŭ Ruzi.
Ĝis la! Sukceson en la skribado.

Polaris:Hi, everyone--- I'm writing something in Esperanto, and I'm hung up on an expression. I want to say "he lied to his supporters and to the rest of the world". Would I say "li mensorgis al siaj subtenantoj kaj al la restaĵo de la mondo", or should it be "...al la cetero de la mondo", or is there a more adequate way to express this. Thanks!I think it’s simply al la resto de la mondo, or perhaps more specifically monduloj for mondo (And it’s mensogis—an r crept in there.)

jchthys:...or perhaps more specifically monduloj for mondoAre you sure that "monduloj" is right? Wouldn't it mean "people who are (or are like) a world", rather than "people who are in the world" (or words to that effect)?
Perhaps "enmonduloj" would be more precise? Elmonduloj? Demonduloj? Jemonduloj*? I don't know - I'm just tossing it out there for discussion.
------
* I'm sort of joking with this one. I can't say as I've ever seen "je" used as a prefix. Although I imagine that if one can do it with other prepositions (which we do all the time), one ought to be able to do it with "je" as well. And in this particular example, "je" seems the best choice; it isn't clear what the "real" preposition should be - "in", "out of", and "from" all work equally well. That's often a sign that "je" is actually the most appropriate choice.

'cetero' is "all that remains".
'resti' can both mean 'to stay' (to avoid movement) and 'to be left' (to be excluded).
Since 'cetero' does not have that ambiguity, I use it whenever possible, even though in this case it shouldn't matter much. "La resto de la mondo" might be read as "the stay(ing) of the world", but honestly I don't think anyone would understand it that way, since it doesn't make much sense
