I was writing something in dodgy italian to a friend, who replied in dodgy italian back, however I was sure that his italian was far dodgier than mine - then came the phrases "non so il modo usare "né"" (I don't know how to use "né") and "non ti senti come conservare (thing to be kept)" (You don't feel like keeping (it)). These got me thinking about how to word things correctly, and so I thought about how I do it in EO, when I started wondering how I actually do word those kind of sentences in EO.

For "non so il modo usare ..." (lit. I know not the way to use ...), would the correct EO translation be "Mi ne scias kiel uzi"?

And for "Non ti senti come conservare ..." (lit. You feel not like/as to keep ...), would the correct EO translation be "Vi ne sentas kiel konservi ..."?

(Note that I want "you don't feel like" as opposed to "want" because I'm more or less trying to say "you can't find a reason to ...". My friend used "non mi trovano .... da conservare", but when using EO as a translation medium, "Mi ne trovas (de) conservi" doesn't seem to make sense thus using "sentire/senti" instead)

All help appreciated - if you're able to correct my italian, feel free too! I would post this in the Italian forum but if I was confident in my Italian this problem likely wouldn't have arised in my EO! lango.gif

"mi ne scias kiel uzi" is fine. If you want to say "I can't find a reason to...", you'll just say "mi ne trovas kialon" + infinitive.

Cheers Darkweasel! This is what English is useless for - figuring out how to use infinitives in other languages lango.gif
