jefusan:Nerdo is perfect! It comes from a nonsense word by an internationally beloved writer, to describe something that didn't have a name when Esperanto was created.I definitely agree that nerdo is a good idea. Otako could also serve well as a pejorative, I suppose(Otaku is/was actually an insult in Japanese culture).
Another option might be otako, based on the Japanese word otaku.
Actually, I think those two are my favourites. They're unfortunate in the sense that new roots would need to be introduced, but it would also be much, much simpler.

Besides, sure, you can and should create interesting words to refer to different kinds of nerd, if you feel like it, however they will always refer only to the PERSON. If you notices, most suggestions ended with "-ulo". The thing about the word "nerd", as someone mentioned earlier, it 's that it has too much a depth of meaning to create a word for it all. Also, we can say that a movie/game/book is "nerdy" or full of "nerdiness". Nerds can also have "nerdgasms" when they see something that tickles their "nerdy bone". So, if choose something like "fakemulo" or whatever, you couldn't say "fakemuleco" or even "fakemulumi", which would sound weird because of the "-ul" sufix. However, you can easily say "nerdumi", "nerdeco" and "nerdorgasmo", which all sound great! (laŭ mi...)

Aŭtismet/odarkweasel:Oh, I was experimenting with expressing "Nerd" with what we already have in Esperanto. My understanding of the concept of "Nerd", um, is someone who is good at mental activity (knows a lot, not neccessarily inteligent) but bad at socialising, right?LyzTyphone:"Troleganto"?![]()

So I was thinking about something like "Tro-leganto" (over reader) or "Trosciulo" (know-too-much). Like that. Any suggestion?
