Download Red2.ogg (my version) and voice_red_01_part2.ogg (a sample of the original). I recorded it, put the radio sounds from the game in the background, lowered the pitch of my voice by 3%, equalized it so that the treble was higher, then deamplified and clipped it, all in Audacity.

josephschwenker:Oh dear. I just realized why "Talk Gibberish with > a monster" would break things. If there's one of those small words in between (pri, kun, etc.), then it no longer needs the "n". I just realized that Penumbra says "Combine Liquid A with > Liquid C". Let's NOT use the -n. I don't think that Eat > Beef Jerky is used in-game.You could get away with "kombini ___ kaj ___, and have both accusatives I believe. There's also the option (a somewhat controversial one I imagine) of using the unofficial particle "na", which allows the accusative without having to modify words. And then there's always "je", but the problem with "je" is while it's good, official esperanto, "je" is not so much a replacement for the accusative as it is a I-don't-know-what-preposition-should-be-used-here word, so it would probably give an impression of anything *but* accusative I imagine.
But if rephrasing verbs so they only take accusatives or rephrasing them so they only use prepositions doesn't work I'm sure the good ol' Ido style lack of accusative will work just as well
They need to be in OGG. There are some special effects that you might want to apply to some of them, I'll send you the files when you'd like to give it a try, AND when we have the translations of the dialog completed. Patrick, let's prioritize the work on Red's dialog above everything else.Ooh, OGG, this might be complicated (I have no idea what the iPhone's format is, but knowing Apple it's definitely not OGG). If I do any I'll have to convert them, and given what I've got here it might take a while so if I do get around to them I don't recommend relying on me .

@ceigered: Hmm, I know "na" (and "far") and my friends use "na", but my instincts keep telling me, "No, don't use that 'na'~!" [And I use "far".] One accusative marker is already difficult for some, and this another accusative marker makes it more complicated. Your mention of Ido irked me a bit, but hey, it's just me. Peace~!
[Off-topic: By the way, the existence and popularity of "na" shows that Esperantists indeed regard the accusative marker as a very useful and integral feature of E-o. While other language makers disliked and removed it, we added one more. How wonderful. ]

Peace~!I found the easiest way to come to terms with it is to go "well, there's al, and there's -en, so I guess na and -n isn't SO bad"

But yeah, there's really "make things more complicated" with "na", or "make things sound like Ido" with no accusative, which in Ido wouldn't be so bad because that has a fixed word order, but in Esperanto it's rather problematic if you don't mark accusatives (could change the whole meaning)
(Off topic, and incase it helps with this translation project) In practice though whenever there's a foreign name or something that doesn't take -n very well, I always do a mixture depending on how strong the context is. For instance one could say "Bunyip manĝis mi", and to non-Australians they might think "they're eating (some sort of vegetable)", but to an Australian we'd go "oh, they're being eaten by some bush monster". But in cases like "Mi uzas Windows XP", well, in normal conversation we know "Windows XP" is being used (that's if you don't use "Vindozo" or if you're not making a pun about windows taking control of its users).
josephschwenker:This is terrible, but nonetheless, here it is. This is my attempt at Red.Far from terrible - that was brilliant! I wouldn't have imagined that came from a 13 year old (maybe more a 34 year old ?). Out of curiosity, is the tinny bad-reception sound meant to be so loud? The original red voice clip sounded a bit softer in that regard. Great work!

josephschwenker:Maybe I should turn them down a bit more?Maybe just a bit, but even as they are they are pretty good (I just didn't know whether they were meant to be identical or not). What I guess is most important is that the "new" Red's voice is just as comprehensible as the original, but still with distortion so the player's going "oh dear god I hope that sound doesn't cut out". Either way, both your recording and the original gave me the same sort of chill which playing the game did it seems on track .

Some time ago I played around with that BestPractice tool to get some instrumental version from excisting voiced mp3. Of course it didn't work. Anyway, BestPractices also can slowdown or modifiy a excisting mp3 what make the sound also somewhat deeper. Just my mustard/ketchup to this.
