The translation project is proceeding very slowly, but is still proceeding thanks to the large efforts of Patrick. The language used in Penumbra: Overture is very sophisticated, and with my knowledge of Esperanto, I have been able to contribute very little that hasn't been corrected or aided by Patrick or la vortaro. I'd love to get some more help on the project, would ceigered and qwertz like to start translating? okulumo.gif

Mi ankaux tradukas la lingvo fajlilo.

I have about half the file translated already. However, i've been starting out using traduku.net, which is usually wrong at interpreting "British English", and so i am having to go back and fix some translations... which im willing to do.

I've also got most of the keyboard keys translated, by using the Ubuntu/gnome translations as a reference.

(rename file to Esperanto.lang)

You could coin a neologismo based on a South African word: biltongo!

Thanks for your efforts on the translation project. For now, however, we are going to continue using Google Docs. I looked at the revisions to the document, and did not see any revisions after mine.
If you would like to try the file out, then download the file from Google Docs as "Text", then change the file extension from .txt to .lang. Also, use OpenOffice or a similar program to find and replace { with < and } with >. For some reason, Google Docs converts those symbols when you download. If you cannot do that, then select all in the document (ctrl + a), then copy and paste it into a blank notepad (Windows, Text Editor (Mac OS X), gedit (Ubuntu) or nano (UNIX) document and save it as Esperanto.lang. Then, move the file to /opt/PenumbraOverture/config, or wherever your Penumbra: Overture files are. If you do not own Penumbra: Overture, then please download the demo (I think that this file is compatible with the demo) or buy the whole game for $20. If the game is too scary for you, then apply this patch: http://penumbrablackplague.717.cz/menu/cheats-to-f...

to remove wolves and spiders from the game. Just merge those folders with the ones in your Penumbra: Overture folder.

If you, keen101, put changes into the traduko.net version, then please merge them with the Google Docs version. Google Docs is working great for our collaboration on the project so far. Anyway, thanks for your interest in the project, keen101! We can never get enough translators.

It looks like you changed multe da our original translations. Since you said in your private message that you are an "advanced beginner", you should add patrik as a friend and check with him before you add anything. Better yet, add the Hitler of grammar Nazism himself, Ferdinand Cesarano. He is crazy good at Esperanto. He is probably from some superhuman research facility where they teach Esperanto. No offense intended to Ferdinand.

Okay, cool.

Actually i didnt know anyone was translating the game except me. I only found your translations today. I've been translating my version only for about a week.

I've never used google docs before, but i will add any new translations i have. I will avoid adding ones that i'm not sure about, until i've checked with patrik or someone else you can double check them.

Then what the hell's left in the game if there are no wolves or spiders?! "OH NO A DOOR KNOB ATTACKED ME!" rido.gif [/joking]

I'll have a look through and if I see something that looks glaringly wrong or easy I'll do it.

EDIT: My internet seems too slow to save the document, so I'll just add some notes here as I find things:

- The first thing that caught my attention was "premfiksu "F" aktivigi la flashlight" - this should be "premfiksu "F" por aktivigi la poŝlampon" ("por" managed to get saved but not the rest).

- "Fine, ni preskaŭ estas garaĝita," perhaps could be "Fine, ni preskaŭ estas endokigita"

- "La ŝipanaro ŝajnis sufiĉe afabla, sed nu en la okazo, kiam mi sekurigis miajn valoraĵojn. Mi pensas ke la ŝlosilo estas en mia inventaro ie. Kiam mi trovis ĝin, duoble alklaku la maldekstran musbutonon devas elekti ĝin, tiam mi povas premfiksi uzi sur la seruron kaj malŝlosi ĝin."

Here, I'm not too sure what "sed nu en la okazo" means - as in "But , well, in the occasion .."?

Also, the following seems wrong: "Kiam mi trovis ĝin, duoble alklaku la maldekstran musbutonon devas elekti ĝin, tiam mi povas premfiksi uzi sur la seruron kaj malŝlosi ĝin" - This reads as "When I found it, double kick the left mousebutton must choose it, then I can hold use on the lock and unlock it"

Perhaps "Kiam mi trovas ĝin (When I find it), mi devas double alklaku la maldekstran musbutonon por elekti ĝin (I must double click the left mouse button to choose it), tiam mi povas premfiksi (what's being held?) por uzi ĝin je la seruro kaj malŝlosi ĝin (then I can hold down (something) to use it on the lock and unlock it)" is better...

The game is a horror game, not an action game. Removing the wolves and spiders leaves a puzzle game, and a hard (and still scary) one, at that. There are also still worms in the game that you cannot kill.

I'm not sure how "nu" sneaked into "sed nu en la okazo", but that phrase is supposed to mean "just in case".

What's being held? That is up to the user. That line ends, leaving a blank for the name of a key. By holding "left shift key".

I guess it was a typo for nur.
