The threads are not deleted, but merely cannot be directly accessed. They are still on the servers and you can find them by searching on google:

http://en.lernu.net/komunikado/forumo/temo.php?...

Lynchie told me that he'd already purchased several books (including Kellerman and a dictionary) so he definitely has some commitment to learning the language, which is why I don't understand his sudden disappearance.

Of course that would require Google's bots to have crawled those particular threads you want to recover, which may not be the case and indeed may never happen at all if the thread was created and 'deleted' within the crawling interval.

Nice to know a thread can be brought back to life though if it's Googleable, or you bookmarked it.

RiotNrrd:Is there an established "change request" system in place for the developers to work against? Because I'd certainly consider putting in a ticket.
No. Write to teamo@lernu.net with your request, though. Our programmers have limited time and a great need to prioritize the order of changes that are made; recently, for example, work has been done to get exercises working in Chrome, which is a long-standing issue. If more people request something, it tends to get moved up the list more quickly. If only one person requests something and it doesn't seem that urgent, it might not even make it to the list at all.

Hi everyone, I have an update on the situation.

Jevgenij, our main programmer, checked into the system and found that the last page Lynchie used when logged into lernu was the 'delete account' page, so it looks like he deleted himself, for one reason or another.

The second deleted user was Akwino. He has just sent a message to the lernu team saying that until this thread, he didn't realize it was possible to delete your account. He hated his username and decided to delete his account and start up a new one. However, he's away on holiday, and plans to start a new account with a new username next week.

The forums were stood up before it was possible to delete a lernu account, so when the system encountered a deleted account, it didn't quite know what to do. Jevgenij has made some changes to the system and he believes that threads created by deleted users should no longer disappear (and indeed, you can see that Lynchie's threads have just reappeared)

That are good news! A big thank you to Jev.
It would be a shame to loose a thread like "vorto de la tago en germana lingvo" which contains almost 2000 messages and more than 450000 views.

Indeed - such threads are inadvertedly great learner resources, and Chainy's thread here seems to be greatly appreciated by its readers ridulo.gif

Coming back after all the confusion has begun, ensued and ended has left me feeling a bit shellshocked - hopefully we hear from Lychie and Akwino later (and if not, all the best to them).
