Just ran across this thread, while looking for some komencanto kindle/pdf books.

Wasn't mentioned, but some might not be aware that you can email PDFs to your Kindle via an Amazon-linked email account, which can automatically convert them to a Kindle ebook by putting "convert" in the subject line of the email. If you want to retain the PDF to view on the Kindle, you just leave the subject line blank.

I've recently done this with some course material, so I can listen to MP3 lessons and follow along on my android kindle app at the same time.

I knew about and frequently use the "email to your Kindle" feature, but I had no idea PDFs could be converted in this way. Thanks for the tip!

The DS and 3DS support Esperanto Ebooks.

That is to say, download a homebrew application called "DSLib" I believe it's called, and any letters working in the .epub file also work on-screen. So I use that to read Ebooks (and it's free since I already have a 3DS : P )

If you convert an Esperanto PDF to .epub normally it can't recognize the Esperanto characters, but if you just made a .epub from a text file or something, it works.

An Esperanto pdf can contain a non-standard font with a non-standard code page, using, for example, Q, W, Y, X and some two characters instead of Esperanto characters. In this case, the consverted .epub will contain substituted characters instead of Esperanto characters.

Calibre is the tool for creating Esperanto ebooks for any reader. The AZW3 format is what you want for Kindle Fire. I use Calibre exclusively for creating ebooks in several formats (Epub, AZW3, Mobi & PDF) at Eldonejo Mistera Sturno. Mostly I do those on Linux, but it works the same way on Windows. All the ebooks on that website are entirely free, by the way.

I am reading it at the moment (in book form, 1970's photoreprint of the 1932 original) and am mightily impressed by the glata linvaĵo - especially so as it was written at a time that predates the Plena Vortaro and Plena Gramatiko.

At times, it feels like a translation from English in so much as there seems to be an exact correspondence with what we might say in English and at other times I read, in the most natural Esperanto, something which I am completely flummoxed to recast in English.

Sudanglo, I have had no luck finding it in either electronic or print form. What was your source? Is it still under copyright? If not, generating a Kindle version would be relatively easy to do with a bit of time and a scanner (I have both).

I have used a Kindle for years now. I keep it in my car loaded with books in case I am facing a wait somewhere. The time is then not completely wasted.
