erinja:What do you mean by the "grammatical" aspects of Esperanto music produced by Asians? There's a massive difference, people of an Asian language background use Esperanto sentences in ways most westerners would never think of. Sure its fully understandable but its still different and interesting compared to the norm. And I have read some of their literature and I now want to hear some of their music. For instance I remember reading somewhere, can't remember where but someone used (duaj haŭtoj) to mean clothing - that was totally new to me.

@ki4jgt: Definitely, check out the Hiphop Kompilo Vol.1. (HHK) The quality is inconstant at best, but it has good elements. As Rano said, the second compilation (HHK2) is underway: we are currently at the mixing phase and production quality is looking good.
A few more suggestions:
- Eterne Rima: http://www.vinilkosmo-mp3.com/samideano-c-74_158_1...
- Lunatiko VS Rima: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K0T9sd3Cec (no album yet, but surely a matter of time)
- Roger Borges: http://www.mixcloud.com/rogerborges/esperanto-danc... (a mix from a cool DJ/Producer who also does stuff in Esperanto)
Also, feel free to follow me on Twitter if you want to stay updated on where the HHK2 is at: http://twitter.com/#!/Espo_Diablo .
As for myself, although I have zero vocals on the HHK2, I'll have a beat here and there on it to my name, and I'll be working on a maxi single CD in 2011.
Of course, if you can and want to add to Esperanto's creative repertoire, that will be awesome.

rano:Hiphop is the only (pop) music you can create at home, on a relative high level, so maybe the hiphopa-kompilo vol 1 is something for you. (for free, the second one will come soon)
This album has only a few good songs, but i know some of the artist that work on the second album and i think vol 2 will become much better.
By the way: If you miss something in the Esperanto world, just make it!

ki4jgt:Is there any music that doesn't make you feel like you're listening to your father's music?Stick to Qwertz, he knows his way around E-o music.
Something like Rhihanna or Justin Bieber or Pink. Sorry for the rude comment. It's just I've only found a few songs I've actually liked. Jen was one of them. I thought it was awesome.

erinja:I don't think there's a shortage of new music in Esperanto. However there is a shortage of diverse musical styles. The fluffy pop-type stuff is generally lacking. There is a little Brazilian fluffy pop music by bands like Merlin, but I think perhaps it caters to Brazilian tastes, it doesn't sound like anything I am used to hearing in the US. R&B seems to be nonexistent. Country is nonexistent (though probably it would be mainly Americans who care about that, I haven't yet heard a complaint about that in this forum).I don't know about Americans liking country music. I am American and cant stand that style, though I have met plenty of Germans who like it, and in Spain Johnny Cash is very popular. I myself dont like him. In Esperanto, I prefer these sort of jolly tunes like Virbovo kaj la Luno to any generic style pop-copy music:
Incidentally there are very, very few female artists doing Esperanto music. And the music tends to skew towards things you can easily do with a couple friends in a garage (guy with a guitar music, rock/alternative, etc). I wouldn't even call it my father's music. The most dominant music styles seem to be rock music, and folk music (international folk songs translated into Esperanto)
Incidentally, Dolchamar seems to have the whole of their most recent DC available for listening on Youtube, so you can pretty much listen to the whole thing before deciding whether to buy it.
