I'd say that the French translation that I have of Murder on the Orient Express is better than the English original - and I'm a native speaker of English.

English *can* be very imprecise, but then, so can just about any language. (You should see how imprecise Korean and Japanese can be. You don't even have to make any special effort to be imprecise in these languages!) English (and these other languages) can also be wonderfully precise and clear when they are used well.
