Learning about EO and learning EO are hand in hand. You will learn more about the speakers if you become a speaker yourself.
It is proven that learning Esperanto helps you learn another language more easily. So, I would suggest that your goal be to learn Esperanto + another language.
(Edit: I see you already know 4-5 languages. Good for you.)

Albanian I look forward to. Interesting language, almost has the same sound set as English (almost) according to Wikipedia, yet employs nasals sometimes like African languages...
And who could dislike a language that calls birds "zog" (zogg) and "zogj" (zodge) in singular and plural respectively?
