It wouldn't give the impression of a ghost in Esperanto; ghost is "fantomo"
My lingvosento says that "animo" doesn't have a supernatural connotation.
"spirito" could be a little more ambiguous as far as ghosts etc, just as "spirit" is a bit ambiguous in English.

sudanglo:Kurt, one Esperanto translation of an English classic you might like to read is the translation of 'Winnie the Pooh'.How delightful! I just came across Winnie the Pooh again as I mused through my library shelves and smiled with warm memories of the joy it brought my kids as I read it aloud to them an age of ages ago. Dankon pro la konsileton! Mi traserĉos ĝin ĉi tiun nokton! (Anywhere near correct?
Totally brilliant in my estimation, and I think it is still stocked by 'libroservoj', or not that difficult to find at Congress bookstalls.

No doubt I shall laugh at myself when I discover how obvious this answer is, but I have searched with no success to find La Ĉashundo de la Baskerviloj and Winnie the Pooh.

Amike,
Kurt

Perhaps you have to be an American or a Member of the Association.
However both titles are in the Catalogue of the Esperanto Association of Britain EAB - Winnie-la-Pu at £11 and La Ĉashundo at £13 (ex post and pack). You don't have to be a member to access the catalogue or to buy from them.
