I am asking how to say "like".

I am looking for a comparison.

I am trying to say something along the lines of "I love you like the sky is blue" - the meaning of which my heart understands, but my mouth is having a hard time expressing. Fortunately my gf understands my heart regardless of what comes out of my mouth.

Anyway, I am not sure how to say this ...

"Mi amas vin ??? la cxielo estas blua" is what springs to mind.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

I would probably go with kiel...mi amas vin kiel la ĉielo estas blua.

I'd put it:

Tiel la ĉielo estas blua, kiel mi amas vin.

But don't take my word for it. I'm neither poet nor Esperantist (yet!).

It sounds a bit maiza to me okulumo.gif but I would say "Mi amas vin same [vere] kiel la ĉielo estas blua".

But I think it would gain a lot with a little tweaking... "mia amo por vi estas kiel la ĉiela bluo: luma kaj senfina". Ta-dann. ridulo.gif

white knight:"maiza"
and "ta-dann" to a stranger? rido.gif
Some things cannot be translated... ridego.gif

Ta-dann must be the Italian version of "ta-da" in English, I think.

(white knight - mnlg is making a joke. In English, we say that something is "corny" when it is over-used and not very original. He's translating "corny" as "maiza" in Esperanto. We especially use the word "corny" relating to jokes, old ones that we have heard many times, or else referring to sentimental things that are so over-used that they seem trite. "ta-da" is what you can say when you are presenting something new and surprising to someone, such as a magician who has just finished a trick)

One possibility may be 'Mi vin amas kiel la cxielo bluas' (or possibly swap 'mi' and 'vin'). If the writer wishes to express his certainty, one possibility may be 'Mi estas tiel certa pri mia amo al vi kiel mi scias ke la cxielo estas blua.' Too bad if the hearer replies 'Nu, gxi jxus igxis griza. Ekpluvis. Gxis!'

I quite understand now...
Weißer Ritter, I would translate corny into German as mit Bart oder übertrieben sentimental.
