I've completely lost track of where this discussion is going. Was there a mistake in the copy of Auld's translation with one too many "ne"s?

I recommend William Auld's Traduku!, and there's also F.R. Banham's A translation course in Esperanto for advanced students. Both appear to be in print.

In creating the passage to be translated I put it one way round - in the book it is the other way round.
There was also later some mistyping (mea kulpa) - now corrected I believe.
But the position of the 'ne's is not the interesting thing in the exercise. It is the tenses to be employed that is the issue.
