"Serĉi" and "retserĉi" express that well enough, I think.

hjhj:I am wondering if their is a verb in Esperanto that means to use a search engine to find information. The commonly-used verb "to google" is the most similar to what I am looking for.Mi kutimas petole uzi 'gugli'. Ŝajne mi eĉ ne estas la sola
edit: oops, I didn't realise that I was in the english forum. I said that I use to use 'gugli' and that that word also appears in wiktionary.

Lots of people say "gugli -n" "gugli katojn", etc. Whether you agree with this neologism or not, it is used transitively.
For retserĉi, I'd personally use "retserĉi pri katoj". To my ear, the object of "retserĉi" would be the pages being searched.

pikolas:Let's keep neologisms to a minimum, shall we?Do you want me to report you to Google's party associate so you can be served some delicious cake and thusly remember how benevolent the benevolent empire is?![]()
"Serĉi" and "retserĉi" express that well enough, I think.

I will take this time to also suggest a translation for "Party associate" = "festakompano"
