I am wondering if their is a verb in Esperanto that means to use a search engine to find information. The commonly-used verb "to google" is the most similar to what I am looking for.

I think the word for search should be good enough, right? It's basically what was used before Google became a verb.
"Can you search cats for me on Google?"

"Serĉi" and "retserĉi" express that well enough, I think.

Mi kutimas petole uzi 'gugli'. Ŝajne mi eĉ ne estas la sola

edit: oops, I didn't realise that I was in the english forum. I said that I use to use 'gugli' and that that word also appears in wiktionary.

but according to the rules of esperanto we could use the word for google (maybe "guglo" or something like that) and turn it into a verb right?

"cxu vi povus gugli (pri) katojn?"

sorry if the last sentence isn't 100% correct, i'm still having trouble forming perfect sentences in esperanto okulumo.gif

Lots of people say "gugli -n" "gugli katojn", etc. Whether you agree with this neologism or not, it is used transitively.

For retserĉi, I'd personally use "retserĉi pri katoj". To my ear, the object of "retserĉi" would be the pages being searched.
