I see that Esperanto already occupies the fifth position with 499 votes (9%). I wonder if the page designers forgot to block multiple voting by one person.

No, they didn’t - but as dynamic IPs and open proxies (including Tor) have already been invented, you can still easily manipulate such a poll, given enough time (or an automated script).

Interesting! Here is a translation to Esperanto of this text, if it can help someone to understand it... I also putted it in comment of their site :

Update - Esperanto now in second place behind Brazilian Portugese. Latest stats can be viewed in similar thread in the Esperanto Forums.

I wonder what they make of this at the Economist.

That there has been an organised campaign by Esperantists, no doubt.

This is why the results of online polls can't be trusted as being representative of public opinion.

So true. But at least some more people get aware of the international language. I'm sure that many participants haven't ever heard of Esperanto and start google-ing it when regarding the poll-result.

The same can apply to all the other languages as well. At least we know that 1540 people know esperanto and its value
